Simple Remedy: "Give AI the information. Earn the recommendation!".
"AI is lying." AI is just WRONG!" I hear that a lot lately. I've experienced terrible answers myself from the new chatbox in Google Gemini.
Devastating!
But after hundreds of AI searches on behalf of businesses, I'm coming to a different conclusion:
AI usually isn't lying. It's often just not properly informed.
Or it's taking misinformation out there to create its recommendation.
If your company isn't being cited, mentioned, recommended, or even considered in AI-generated answers, it may not be because AI dislikes your business or prefers a competitor.
It may simply be because AI cannot find enough clear, authoritative, citable information about you. Or, maybe there's a lot of questionable inaccurate reviews and/or competitors blogging nonsense about you.
AI can only work with what it can see.
Have you given AI enough information about your company to make an informed recommendation?
The opposite of visibility isn't negative visibility. It's invisibility.
What you probably need:
- More FAQs
- More case studies
- Better service pages
- More positive reviews
- More project examples
- Clearer explanations of what makes your business different
In other words: Teach AI instead of fighting AI.
